Sound Adjudant's Call

BMBS would like to welcome its newest contributor, Thomas Clouse Madison III.

TC graduated from St. Peter the Apostle in 1997, where he led the football team to an undefeated record. He hung out with Pat Maher and Chris Murray as well. He then attended Benedictine Military School as a third generation cadet. There he served as Student Senate Vice President, shotput superstar, outstanding senior, National Honor Society treasurer, and Brigade S-1. He bought beer for us when we were 16, because he looked 24.

Upon receiving his diploma from Benedictine in May of 2001, Madison was awarded a special internship/fellowship opportunity at Play it Again Sports, later Pro-Play Sports. He housesat for the Hjortsbergs during the summer of '01 as well. He then attended Georgia State University, where he received a degree in real estate. He is currently the only person I know in our class besides Brooks that holds a real job.

Madison currently resides in Atlanta with his girlfriend and Arvind. They have 1 dog, Budweiser.

Correction: SPA did not finish undefeated that year. They were upeneded by Blessed Sacrament, 6-0. It was the first win for BSS in over two years. Current BMBS bloggers, Will Fleming and Stephen Leonard led the charge for the Irish as they used the shamrock to drive the paganistic Rams off of Wilmington Island.

If I remember correctly, BSS had around 15 or less players and St. Peter's had about 35-40. Also, their cheerleaders outnumbered BSS' 10 to 1.

That will never contend with the fate of the 1993 BSS Irish A team, or should I say "Warriors". Explanation: Going into my 8th grade year, I was looking forward to my final season of playing football for the Irish. I was doing my usual pre-season workout routine of sitting by Brynwood Pool in Augusta when a curious letter arrived. It was from one Miss Mary Anne Butler (cunt). In the letter, Miss Butler (cunt) informed the student body that she had taken it upon herself to disband the football team that year and prohibit us from competing against the powerhouses of St. James and St. Andrews in the parochial league, citing low numbers. A few couragous parents led by big Jimmy Coleman took it upon themselves to enter the team into a city league run by the Omar association that conveniently played at Daffin Park. If you're uneducated, this an all black league, and us boys from BSS were not. When we signed up, we dubbed ourselves the mascot of "Warriors", although we didn't have the funds to buy new jerseys. Therefore we were forced to represent with the previous years BSS green jerseys, with "Irish" across the front. The "Irish Warriors" is what we became. We had about 14 players, and our quarterback was some kid from St. James who didn't make grades that year, so we glady took him in. Our only bright spot was future BC star, the manchild known as Stephen Sauers. Needless to say, we got our asses handed to us week in and week out. Our most memorable game was the third of the season in which we were actually winning 6-0 at halftime. I will never forget the oral beat down those kids at the other end of the field took for losing to us at half. Medieval I would say. The second half was quite a reversal from the first. They proceeded to roll up over 40 points on us in that fateful half of football, even scoring on a 40 yard bomb to end the game. Luckily I broke my arm hopping Trey Aimars fence a couple of weeks later, and gladly watched from the sidelines the rest of the year. Good times, good times.

Actually, SPA's record that year was 6-1 and a half. The mighty Chargers played St. Peters for one half on a Friday night before a BC game. The Chargers came out with a big half W that night.
