Here's Why I'm Agitated This Week:

1. The ridiculous amount of time and money that the Zero Sum Democrats have wasted in a futile attempt to lose the war with one vote.

2. Probably, whoever takes over the PM job in Britain. Europeans are all about some isocialism (isolation-socialism. it works for me. that's all that matters). It is amazing that Tony Blair has lasted as long as he has. It is a testament to his character and moral fortitude.

3. The new liberal bible. Read this if you were not already convinced that liberals were cynical, God-less, group thinkers. I ruptured key blood vessels when I read this frustrating piece of crap.

4. Mark Redman: Sir Lobs-a-lot. I wonder how it feels to be solely responsible for half of the Braves losses thus far.
5. This picture from the Savannah Morning News:

This is awful, pure and simple. Country Day prom, probably.
6. And finally, the fact that ESPN has wasted months of my life talking about the NFL draft. If there is something to talk about, great, I'm game. But I don't care what kind of pen JaMarcus Russell uses.

Pat and I were discussing Liberals and Environmentalism at "Sunset at Tubby's" this past Thursday.

We came to the conclusion that Liberals have scrapped religion in favor for the environment.

Real religions take faith, because not every belief can be tangibly seen or touched.

The environment, on the other hand, is seen all around you. Liberals are attracted to tangible beliefs. True Christianity (we're not talking about happy go lucky Anglicanism) does not mesh well with liberal beliefs (redistribution of wealth, abortion, seizure of private property, etc)

But, replacing the environment as their new Godhead will make their beliefs seem worth while. e.g. "We must redistribute income to feed everyone. We must have abortions to conserve our resources. We must seize your property to preserve the spotted bunny rat's natural habitat."

How ridiculous. And liberals aren't dumb people... their just angry at "God knows what."

Secularism is a religion, and liberals are trying to impose it on everyone. It has already taken over Europe just in the last 20 years are so. Will America suffer the same fate?

A huge difference between Western Europe and America is the source of individual rights as it relates to the role of government:

- European constitutions rely on the "social contract" theory in which a person's rights (if any) are derived from the constitution and the State. This is what allowed people like Hitler and Napoleon to take charge. People are merely bits of randomly gathered protoplasm and nothing more, so you're not violating any fundamental laws because they essentially have no rights in the first place.

- The American constitution, based on the ideas expressed on the Declaration of Independence, takes a totally different view. It basically says that God creates every person with certain rights that no one can take away, and government's only purpose is to protect those rights. The government and constitution is not the source of our freedoms: God is. The constitution merely serves as the safeguard to protect what God has given us, and if government fails to do this, or tramples on those rights, then the people have not only the right, but the duty, to get together and overthrow the government (using, of course, 2nd-Amendment protected firearms).

I guess my point is that secularism, it its most absolute form where religion is nowhere allowed in the public sphere and is criticized in the private sphere, is in no way compatible with 250 years of American legal theory and traditions. If the secularists ever do find a way to abolish God, they'll also have to throw away our Constitution and write a new one.

This Redman masking-tape fix was cute and all, but it's time to get rid of him and make Villareal a starter. He's been our best long relief guy since last season and seems much more effective in a stretched-out period than short, high pressured situations.

Also, Langerhans' first game as an Oakland Athletic: 2 at-bats, 2 strikeouts. Promptly followed by two pinch hitters.
