Global Warming Quiz

I am copying this from Cafe Hayek:
Suppose we discovered that the earth was cooling rather than warming due to a natural cycle. Would you encourage people to drive more and use more carbon-based energy as a way of warming the earth?
You don't have to answer, but I'm curious what Al Gore would say.

Things I am all for: Cleaning up the environment and living in a cleaner world.
Things I am not for: Al Gore
Have you noticed the huge support behind Gore in recent months by the Hollywood types and music industry? I'm sure you have because it is hard to ignore the smugness that is radiating from the West coast right now. I just wish the people in the music industry would remember just a few years back when they were at odds with Gore and his wife over censorship of their albums. But I guess all is forgiven after you win an Oscar for a documentary that was about as entertaining as watching paint dry. It was like going back to my Junior year Ecology classes at Georgia. Those were some of the most dry lectures I have ever heard. And trust me after this much schooling I have heard my fair share of dry lectures. I may not agree with Michael Moore but at least I get a kick out of his movies and am not asleep 30 minutes into it.

I've only seen this from one source, but supposedly The Smashing Pumpkins are playing at the US festival for Gore's Live Earth concerts. Fitting, since the only way to save our planet is for the greatest band in history to play music again.

Billy Corgan is a douchebag. Not surprising that he is supporting Gore.

Out of the millions of "great ideas that will never materialize" I've had, one is to create a band called "Rage Against Rage Against the Machine."

I would be the lead-singer of course, and would rap about how human beings all over the globe currently live in the healthiest, richest state in history. I would write some crunk-ass tunes about how the state of the world is constantly improving thanks to free trade, market economics. and the extension of private property rights in places like India and China, where millions have been brought out of poverty.

Finally, I would end with some phat lyrics about how the greatest threat to these freedoms and the ensuing prosperity they create are the draconian and collectivist measures proposed by the likes of Al Gore.

Pat:

You joke, but that's really all it would take.

Most kids don't care about what's important, they only care about what's cool. Being liberal is just what's cool these days. This is because social conservatism is the "uncool" side same-sex marriage and other issues. Because of this, financial conservatism is "uncool" by association, not to mention that most of the MTV kids don't know anything about economics. They'd just as soon support that guy that all the celebrities support.

I'm rambling here. Basically, I'm saying that liberalism is easy for stupid people to understand. This allows them to take a stand on something they know nothing about.
