Change

Some people have been begging for a new helmet design for years. I was not one of those people, but I can live with this. It's hard to see, but there is a white stripe down the middle. This is the first helmet logo BC has used since 1992, which was a script "Cadets". I still thinks the school needs to establish one definitive logo. Currently, all we have are two letters that are arranged in a number of different ways and in a number of different fonts.

Looks alright to me.

What's this about letting all the freshmen dress out? I will defer to those who actually played football to weigh in on this decision, but I just have reservations about it. A varsity jersey used to represent a sense of honor and pride that was previously only afforded the Jared Padgetts, Nick Lispeys, and Roosevelt Poughs of the world.

Freshmen will only dress for home games. I don't see anything wrong with it. If you're on the team, then you're on the team. Also, we don't have a freshmen team anymore. That is probably the main reason they will be allowed to dress.

Before the comments start, we dropped our freshman team because the other public schools in our area dropped their freshmen teams.

Wait a minute? Change I actually like? I'm confused.

I like the helmets. White face masks would look better I think.

I like the school shield as a logo.

Snuffy made a good point. Since there is no freshman team, there is no reason not to dress them out.

Also, dropping the freshmen team may be beneficial. When I think back on the class of 2001's freshmen team, about 50 or so played.

When it came time for the next spring practice, only 15 or 20 returned. Not having a freshmen team will allow them to "get their feet wet" with the older players. This may encourage more to stay their sophomore year.

Yeah now that I realize there's no freshman team I guess it's not a big deal. Plus it will make us look bigger on the sidelines. Please let this thing be on the internet tonight.

I noticed the bcathletics.net website is down. I know I constantly sound like a Debbie Downer and always have something to complain about but Jesus we at least need a sports website like all the other private schools.

I don't know if it's the picture or what, but it seems like the BC is a little too far back on the helmet, and is BC just on one side? I'll have to wait and see what it looks like tonight.

I think it's a great idea for freshman to dress. 1.) it keeps the matt cirincioni's and patrick gilpin's (of my day) out of the student section where there are tons of temptation to pry away decent athletes from the football field. 2.) to agree with patrick, i do think you need to earn your varsity jersey, but the freshmen class put in the time over the summer that they deserve to be a part of the team, I beleive.

In regards to the internet, i answered this in an email chain, but for those of you not part of the thread, I'm still on the heels of coach helton to see if he can pass the word up to coach stroud or whoever the "green-lighter" would be to see if JJH4 and myself, or any others interested, if we could possibly put this together. Hut 2 Hut 2!

Hope the weather holds out.

I like the helmets. Still not a fan of the jerseys

I was told that a link to the webcast will be on the BC Athletics website (www.eteamz.bcathletics.net) which is currently down.

I've also heard that Jack and Kevin Sheehan will be doing the broadcast tonight, which will begin at 7:15.

The "BC" is on both sides of the helmet. I think on some helmets, the sticker was placed a little too far back.

The jerseys have grown on me a little (the white jerseys moreso than the maroon jerseys). I am worried that the new helmets won't "coordinate" with the new jerseys.

I would not want the shield on the helmets because it is too detail-oriented. A helmet logo needs to be easy to see and comprehend from the stands.

I agree that allowing freshmen to dress should act as an incentive for them to stick with the football program.
